This weekend will be the fourth week that we've taken Hazel to Metrodog in Richmond, over near Costco if you are familiar with the East Bay. Every Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 they have a free small dog social hour where you can bring your little dog to play in one of their training rooms. The maximum weight is 25 lbs and I have to say that most of the dogs are really well behaved and have a great time playing with the other dogs.
There are all ages and I think that Hazel is one of the oldest, but she is starting to loosen up and have a good time. She's a bit shy and it takes her a while to warm up to others but last week when we drove up she started barking and wagging her tail, ready to go in and play. Once we got it she ruled the room and barked playfully at every dog that walked in. That means that by this weekend she will probably stretch out of her comfort zone a bit more and actually play with one of the other dachshunds.
Hazel isn't big on chasing balls but she loves to do agility so we try and bring out a jump for her to practice with. Seems to loosen up the dogs too and everyone gets in on the game.
Here's Hazel hanging out ready to bark at the Pug puppy that keeps running by her.
