The B Line Pet Pouches

(photo from The B-Line)

Only 6 more days till Christmas and if you are in the crafty mindset to finish off a few more gifts for your dog loving friends then here are are few quick projects that will give a personal touch to your gift giving this year. The first project is one I saw over at Amy's blog The B-Line. She designed these useful, and incredibly easy to make, Pet Pouches. Great instructions with easy to follow pictures, I was able to make 4 in less than half an hour! Check out my version below: (I used elastic instead of velcro, but for a tighter fit I would use velcro)

Gus Bed

If you have a favorite picture or silhouette of your little friend then try a custom print like Lena Corwin's Gus Pillow above. I just found a pillow and a cover at Ikea for around $12 that would be perfect for a pillow or a small dog bed. Corwin has a great book called Printing By Hand that takes you through several ways of  screen printing methods.

The Purl Bee has a nice tutorial on how to make your own stockings, complete with hand embroidered names! Why not make a few for the furry friends also? I read that around 60% of people have a stocking filled for their pets on Christmas. I know we will!

I've used and slighlty modified this Simple Baby Quilt from Martha Stewart to make several dog travel blankets the past few years. If you use exactly a yard of each material it goes by even faster. Most of the time I dont bind them but do a double row of stitches parallel to the edge to keep it from opening. Once you get the hang of it you can make several blankets in an hour. Make it more personal by embroidering or stamping the dog's name on a corner.
