Our trip over to Oakland today to try out Fentons Creamery started off as a scouting location to take pictures of the dogs, but quickly turned into an excuse just to go have lunch and try out their amazing ice cream! I had heard about them from our marketing guy at work on Tuesday and immediately stored that away as a "must do" for this weekend, and I'm so glad that we did!
Fenton's Creamery has been around since 1894, in their current location since 1961, and is even featured in the Pixar film UP. They do serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner but save your appetite because the desserts are the real reason to make the trip over! (although the guy next to me had the biggest bacon/shrimp/crab sandwich I have ever seen and will definitely get next time) In the menu you'll find two full pages of ice cream desserts like the Black and Tan made with their signature Toasted Almond ice cream and layers of chocolate and caramel! They are so big and so rich that you could split one with your favorite person and still feel satisfied and happy! Don't even try to contain it in the cup because all that delicious, gooey, topping will just spill over the side anyway!
So, if you are in the East Bay head over to Oakland with a big sweet tooth because you will definitely want to put Fentons Creamery on your "must do" list too!
