One of the advantages of living in the San Francisco Bay area is the abundance of amazing restaurants like The Farm all within an hour of where we live! I've always felt a bit guilty for not enjoying the wine country of Sonoma and Napa considering we live so close but considering red wine gives me a 3-4 day migraine I've learned to live with the fact that I will never become a master sommelier. But to make up for my lack of "wine speak" I've been indulging in new restaurants and researching chefs for the past few years. Last Saturday night the Mr. made reservations at The Farm for dinner and I have to say that it was one of the most wonderful dining experiences I've ever had! The staff was sincere, helpful, and incredibly nice, and the food was spectacular. The presentation was so beautiful it felt like I was cutting into pieces of artwork, but once I tasted each dish there was no apprehension in dissecting each and every flavor.
What's truly inspiring is the half acre garden that chef Andrew Budnyj collaborates on with their Culinary Gardner, Marley Dawson, and Executive Chef Steven Tevere to grow their own produce that they use on the menu. Waste products from the kitchen goes back into compost for the garden. If it isn't grown on site then Budnyj contacts and works with local farmers to find the best local ingredients.
One of the highlights was finding out that you can bring your dog with you and sit out on the covered terrace for a cocktail and appetizers! We're definitely going back with the hounds and more friends for a photo shoot, and maybe a game or two of bocce ball!
