Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! I'm dropping in today on the Black and White Sunday blog hop to share today's photo of Hazel with you. Thank you to our hosts: Sugar The Golden Retriever and Dachshund Nola for keeping the B&W Sunday hop going strong!
I recently took the PhoDography class in Berkeley to pick up some new tips and hone in a few skills on action photography, but what I liked the most about it was the fact that the instructor started off by showing us how to train our own dogs to help improve our skills! Simple training commands such as "stay", "jump up", "sit", and "look" help you to compose your shots better and can offer you more freedom in your creativity. Not all dogs may have the physical ability, or for preventative reasons like in the Dachshunds, to jump up on and off objects but I can't tell you how valuable it has been just to have Hazel look directly at the camera. Usually she just looks away when the camera comes up but after teaching her to look at me when I say "camera!" I get a much better expression. We're still working on the "stay" command though!
Here is a link to help you get started training your own dog for simple commands that will help you out as well!
