I was searching around my old files this morning, looking for an image that I could test at a large scale when I remembered that I had these photos from the Grand Canyon! We have a large printer on loan to us for a few more weeks so I wanted to take advantage of it and print some nice photos to hang up above the beds and I think these will do nicely!
I only had a 50 mm and an 85 mm lens with me at the time so I couldn't do the canyon justice, and it was kind of hazy the day I was there, so unfortunately I couldn't get the dream shot that I was hoping for. But after spending a few hours converting them over to black and white I think it gives it a timeless elegance that I will appreciate for years to come.
It's nice to get outside of your comfort zone also and to try a new technique or subject; I think it strengthens your eye for composition, lighting, and textures that you can bring to any photo shoot. Plus, the bonus was that I met an older gentleman that took me through how he uses ND filters and how he travels the world taking photographs for the fun of it! He doesn't sell them or show them, it's just for his personal use. Inspiring!
Where would you go and what would you do if you could do it for the passion and the fun of the adventure?
