Happy Sunday! We're dropping in for the Black and White Sunday blog hop, thank you to our hosts: Dachshund Nola and Sugar the Golden Retriever for keeping this lovely challenge going each week! Please stop by one of their lovely blogs for more information on how to join in; it's wonderful seeing all the photos each week and the creative moments that people capture of their pets.
If you want to improve your black and white photos and train your eye to see in black and white then I highly recommend watching the movie The Better Angels. I came across this film a few weeks ago and was instantly mesmorized by how scenes were filmed that I immediately had to watch it again because I missed some of dialogue because I was too focused in all the details of the lighting in each scene! It's brilliant how the starkness enhanced the beauty and simplicity of Indiana, bringing out the complex textures in such a "simple" environment. There is so much to take in from this movie to use in your own photography- rich contrasts, brilliantly timed bright lighting, back lighting, and strong framing, subtle textures- all of which you can accomplish as well if you look for the opportunities when you are shooting your own dogs. Check out this trailer and let me know what you think!
So my challenge to you is to pick an element from the movie that you like and try to recreate it in your own Black and White Sunday post next week!
