We've just completed week 1 of the Pooch Vs. Pooch Challenge and I am feeling pretty good about our week overall so far! We managed to walk a minimum of 20 minutes, usually more, each day and added in an extra exercise that involved the dogs which you can see on the NewfandHound Instagram feed.
What was the most shocking to me was how little we were actually walking the dogs. Our normal route took a total of 10 minutes once I started timing it. That's it. Pathetic! So we bumped it up to 20 minutes minimum and I can't believe the difference it made in the dogs, they really had no endurance at all and by the end of the week they were exhausted by the time we got home. I'm hoping that this week will be a bit better for them, especially Hazel.
As for me, I actually made it to the gym (I walked a minimum of 30 minutes even on my rest day) but where I failed, as usual, was eating on the weekends. I need to make sure I prep some snacks to take with me while running errands or working around the house because if I don't then all bets are off. Hey, I'm human, and the whole point of this is to jump start a healthy lifestyle so at least we're on the right path and this week will be even better!
