Snackerday is back with a new look and new recipes for you to try out this weekend! No need to make that extra trip to the dog store just to pick up some treats because you can make them faster, and healthier, right at home. I can usually whip up a batch in about 45 minutes including baking time, so it's easy to keep a supply in stock.
With fall right around the corner I thought I'd start off with the Apple Pie Dog Cookies adapted from Bubba Rose Biscuit Company's fantastic book, Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook. I like to cut out my own shapes rather than just the drop type so I add in more wet ingredients to form a dough that will be sturdy enough for rolling out. I didn't have any oat bran per the original recipe so I used wheat bran, and to make it slightly wetter I used 1/2 cup more of apple sauce.
The dogs wanted to tuck into these even before they finished cooling so I know they will go quickly this week and the bonus is that they make your house smell like the holidays! So give them a try and let me know if your dogs like them too!
As always, if your dog has allergies or specific dietary needs check with your veterinarian before you give them these treats.
