I saw my first fallen leaf on the street yesterday morning and even though the temperatures are record breaking this week here in the Bay area, fall has finally arrived. It made me want to try out the matte look for my photography this week and it is a style that I really like when other people do it but haven't tried yet myself so I took Nooner and Hazel out for some inspiration. It's hard to find my own voice in anything these days with the constant social chatter all around, and especially challenging in photography it seems, but I feel like if I just let go and keep working this style around in my head these photographs will ultimately find their own destination.
But that is what I really like about photography at the moment; it's finding your voice in images and discovering who you are through how you see the world. Call it visual therapy, or snap expressionism, but it is a type of therapy and self reflection that puts you into the moment and forces you to connect with the world, with real people, and real places, and real feelings.
So come with me, get out of your chair and grab your coat, and lets go outside and search for a new style, new ideas, and new destinations to keep us entertained through the winter months that are right around the corner. Dare i say it? "Winter is coming."
